Supporting community access to beaches and open space through local participation in the land use and planning process.

KBA Mission

To seek and obtain partners and funding to preserve community beaches and uplands to provide long term public access through advocacy and education.

Values

KBA believes in the following values that guide organizational decisions and actions.

  • Recreation areas and open space strengthen communities, improve psychological and physical health, and make Ketchikan a more attractive place to live and work
  • When people have access to parks, they exercise more, which improves health and reduces the risk of various diseases.
  • Physical activity relieves symptoms of depression and anxiety, improves mood and enhances overall well-being.
  • Open space and recreational areas increase the value of neighboring residential property.
